The Wild Flowers of Alney Island
The floodplain of the Severn is in full bloom in June with wild flower meadows just a few hundred yards from Gloucester cathedral. Juliet Bailey of the Gloucestershire Naturalists’ Society will talk about the flowers to be found, describing their ecology and folk uses, and a history of the Gloucestershire floodplains, putting this rare habitat in its national context.

An easy hour and a half walk taking in the Quay and Castle Meads where Juliet Bailey of the Gloucestershire Naturalists’ Society will show you the wild flowers of the floodplain. This walk follows on immediately from her talk, The Wild Flowers of Alney Island, but it is not necessary to have attended the talk.
