Western Front Association – Know your World War 1 & 2 Ancestors

Gloucester Civic Trust & The Western Front Association,
The Folk of Gloucester 99-103 Westgate Street, Gloucester, GL1 2PG

The Folk (formerly the Folk Museum in Westgate Street, Gloucester) will be hosting a free ‘pop-up’ Military Research event on Saturday 4th of November from 11-00 a.m. to 2-00 pm.

This free event is being organised by the Cheltenham & Gloucester branch of the Western Front Association and is open to anyone interested in researching servicemen or women who served in the First World War, military medals or other military-related documents and artefacts. We may be able to help with enquiries concerning other military conflicts, depending on the nature of the query.

To help with the research and improve the chances of success, please bring along as much information as you can. For example:

  • The full name and, if possible, date of birth of the person you are researching.
  • Any known addresses.
  • Any known details of the unit or branch of the armed forces in which they served.
  • Details of their spouse or other family members.
  • If you have any medals, related documents, or a picture of the person in uniform, that could help even more!

You are guaranteed a friendly welcome.

Refreshments will be on sale in the Folk Café, so why not on pop along on 4th of November and see what you can find out about your ancestor’s military history
